Shuffle music on WP7

Since I got my HTC Trophy I have tarted to use it as my primary personal media player. Why carry around a phone and my Zune when I don’t have to? One thing I like to do when I am driving or working out it shuffle all of my music. I was having trouble finding the settings for the media player such as shuffle and repeat. They were not in the same place they are on my Zune HD. To use these features you need to open the music and video player and tap the album that is now playing. You will see the album art with song time under it and the list of upcoming songs. If you tap the album art you will get three options and the one on the left of two arrows coming together in an X is the shuffle option. Hope this helps if your were having trouble finding this option.

Search Company Directory WP7

One of the my favorite features of Exchange synchronizing is access to the company GAL. Microsoft renamed this to Outlook search in WP7. To use this open the people app and tap the search glass and type the persons name. If you don’t see the contact your looking for you will see two options Search Windows Live directory and Search Outlook directory, tap Search Outlook directory. This will search your company address box and find the person you are looking for.

 

Use Zune Pass on Windows Phone 7

After waiting a long time for Verizon to get their first Windows Phone 7 device I am very happy to have my Trophy(even after the hassles it took to get it). When I got my first Zune 64GB I signed up for my Zune Pass subscription an have kept it as I have moved through devices. One of my favorite features of WP7 is the built in Zune software and the access to the Marketplace. When I first got my device I started taping around and messing with some of the apps. Then I went into the Zune software and saw there was a new Death Cab for Cutie album and thought cool now I can just download it to my device. The only thing is when I tapped on the item in the marketplace all I could do was buy. I thought something has to be missing here. I thought maybe I need to sync it with my Zune software on my computer first but that didn’t fix it. I left the marketplace and decided I would mess with it later. While arranging my tiles by pressing and holding I thought maybe if I press and hold it will give me some options. So back to the MarketPlace I went. I pressed the album name an up popped a menu and in that menu there was the option to Download.

So to download using the Zune pass in the Zune MarketPlace on WP7 you follow these steps:

1. Find the song/album you want to download

2.  Tap and hold the name of the song/album

3. A menu will pop up allowing you to play now, buy, download, and share.

 

Keep in mind this will only work if you have a Zune pass associated to the live account your device is setup with.
